Yesterday at the office one of my coworkers introduced me to an app he’d found, called Coaster.  It looks really cool.  Basically you use it to see what drinks a bar has to offer, and then order (and pay! and tip!) your drink and then get notified when your drink is ready at the bar. SO COOL.  Right now it’s only available in San Francisco (boo) but you have the option to recommend bars in other cities (wooo, Chicago) so that they can investigate coming in to other places. Now, I’ve never actually TRIED this app, I’m just all excited about it based on how it LOOKS and how I would assume it works.  (although if I can swing a long enough layover on my way to/from NZ through SF, you can bet I’m going to find a bar and try it out)   here they are on twitter:  https://twitter.com/usecoaster

However, Jon and I (the aforementioned coworker) were discussing places that we’d like for this app to work here, and I realized that most of the places that I frequent, wouldn’t be ideal places for this kind of app. Not a bad thing, by any means, just how it is.

But I would imagine that this kind of thing might be super fun for the after work crowd.  Especially people that I work with. CV is full of the best kind of nerds, and nerds love apps. And drinking. And trying new shit with their phones. So…. perfection.

Which of course means that it’s time to explore places I don’t usually go.  Time to expand the comfort zone, or something along those lines.  And so, a new list!

This list is just a hastily-created one using our BFFs, yelp. (seriously Yelp is the answer to nearly everything)

I’ve only been to a couple of places on this list and of those, only like once to each. But I’d like to try ’em out. Also, if you’ve been, or have other ideas of fun places, let me know!  I’d like to try a new place every week after work. And I’d love company if you’d like to join me.

Below is what I’ve got so far. Let me know what you think – or if you’ve got any other suggestions!  Am looking for a bar (or restaurant with a bar) or lounge in a place easy to get to after work during the week from the financial district. Someplace that would be a good possibility for a Coaster (or coaster-type) app.  Or just someplace that sounds fun or trendy or good for people watching.  Also, once I’ve actually read the reviews and looked at the websites for the items on the current list, I’ll probably add/remove/comment on based on what I find out, also will update the list as I (we?) visit them.  So, could be fun, yeah? 🙂

(and who doesn’t like fun? jerkasses, that’s who)

Enjoy!
